NH First Lady Endorses Hillary

Today, Hillary recieved the endorsement of a fellow First Lady, Susan Lynch, wife of New Hampshire Governor John Lynch.  Ms. Lynch is a pediatrician and child obesity activist.  She sited Hillary's long standing commitment to children and families in her endorsement.

In a statement preceding an appearance with Hillary, Susan said:

As a mother and as a pediatrician, I share Hillary Clinton's commitment to fighting for children and families. We face big challenges, and I believe Hillary Clinton is the best candidate to deliver the changes we need.

Ms. Lynch will serve as national co-chairwoman of Hillary's presidential campaign.  She is a former Dean supporter who was a member of "Doctors for Dean," in 2004.

Governor Lynch plans to remain neutral in the race, but this endorsement from his wife is a good one for Hillary.

Re: NH First Lady Endorses Hillary (none / 0)

Good news for Clinton.  But I see the heads of some people exploding over this.  "How could someone who supported Dean support Clinton" they will ask.  "After all he is all about grassroots and she is corporate and top down.  We do have our little boxes to maintain after all."

Lynch endorsement was expected.... (1.00 / 3)

Clinton raised at least $6,000 from Hsu and his network last year for Governor John Lynch of New Hampshire, according to Lynch aides. Lynch has no plans to endorse anyone before the state's crucial January primary, aides said.

And at least some of the $17,000 that Governor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan collected from Hsu and his associates in 2005 and 2006 stems from a Nov. 29, 2005, fund-raising reception for her hosted by Steven Rattner, a New York investment firm executive and major Clinton donor seen as a candidate for US Treasury secretary if Clinton wins. Granholm's office said she has not made an endorsement decision.

Groan (none / 0)

If you go around accusing Dr. Lynch and Governor Lynch of this kind of crap in New Hampshire, your candidate can withdraw from that state's campaign today, becuase he will get his clock cleaned. They are beloved - he was re-elected with over 70% of the vote.  Dr. Lynch's work on childhood obesity and other children's health issues has made her very well known and popular in her own right.

Re: Dont forget (none / 0)

I personally don't care about endorsements.  It doesn't influence me one way or the other.

In fact, it has zero affect on me.

However, if this will help Hillary for some people, that's just icing on the cake.

Re: Dont forget (none / 0)

I don't either, but people running against Hillary have made the judgement they can't run against her experience or policy stances, so they are running against her character.  So, these public shows of support, particularly from women help assure voters who don't know what to believe, given the onslaught of character attacks leveled at Hillary.

Re: Dont forget (none / 0)

It seems to me many people posting positive things in this diary are the same ones trying to create a scandal about the Leadership PAC when there is none and ironically the Hopefund has contributed money the Governor's campaign.

Re: Dont forget (none / 0)

But those contributions are also in-kind contributions to the Obama for President campaign.  I hope those in-kind contributions above and beyond the limit stipulated in campaign finance laws are enumerated in Obama's next filing.  But I imagine they will not be, and this will require him to amend the filings when he receives a letter from an auditor.

By the way, Hillary is 44.

Give us some credit - we TRY to wrap our brains around it, but it's soo hard. We're just simple folk.  Not Clinton fetishists/sophisticates like you.  We do what we can...and we're going to go shuffling off with our stupid grins and empty little heads and vote for Obama in Iowa, and NH, etc...and cross our little fingers and hope this party wakes up before Dems blow it again...Try to be patient with us.

Re: NH First Lady Endorses Hillary (2.00 / 1)

I don't know why you're so snarky.  It is a big endorsement.  NH is the second primary state.

Obama got the endorsement from Oprah and she's stumping for him next month.

I'm happy for him.

But this post isn't about Obama or Edwards.  Why are all positive news about Hillary met with such pettiness?

Big News (none / 0)

This endorsement is big news, because of the popularity of both Dr. Lynch and Governor Lynch. She is not seen as an "establishment" Democrat, but as someone who goes her own way.

By the way, that fellow in the glasses in the picture above looks like Wesley from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel"?  Didn't realize he was a Clinton supporter...

Endorsements are totally useless.  Endorsements are followed by sheep who cannot think for themselves.

Then why did Chris Dodd (you are with Dodd, right?) make such a big deal out of the Firefighters endorsement?

HC, you're not going to get them to say anything positive about Hillary.  Anything positive will be received with a negative.

The best that Hillary supporters can do is to either ignore or respond in kind.  The latter would be my choice.

Comedy Central weights in with the funny....

We asked for some reactions to this site around the Indecision offices, and here's what we got:

  • It looks like it's a teenage Midwestern girl's blog and should be titled Hillary is 14.

  • I'm Like, Totally Running for President!

  • Hillary Clinton wins the Suze Orman look-alike contest.

  • Hillary Clinton to sell wedding cakes if campaign falters.

  • This is what happens when you let women vote.

  • Lady suits for everybody!

  • This site was written in between hot flashes.

  • Yay! We're white!

  • Our estrogen combined... creates... Hillary is 44!

  • One word: Labia.

Re: NH First Lady Endorses Hillary (2.00 / 2)

This is an incredibly important endorsement in New Hampshire. Dr. Susan Lynch (she is a working pediatrician) has never endorsed anyone other than her husband before. (He has 70% approval ratings.)

I was there this morning, and Dr. Lynch made a big point that Hillary Clinton has proposed a solid, well-thought-out, paid-for plan for universal health care (Obama's plan does not include universal health care).

There are very few endorsements that matter in New Hampshire.  The only two that come to mind are Dr. Lynch and St. Sen. Lou D'Allesandro -- Hillary has them both.

Re: NH First Lady Endorses Hillary (2.00 / 2)

Ha! Ha! Ha! Thanks for pointing out the baby's foot! That's a picture from the Hopkinton (NH) State Fair this summer (someone told me that this evening). There were four or five kids at the announcement this morning. They were all very quiet until Dr. Lynch and Hillary spoke.  Then, they all talked along with the speeches. I thought it was charming and somehow, very appropriate.

And, it really was a big deal to get Dr. Lynch's endorsement.  The next biggest thing was this evening's 750 person phone bank/potluck supper in Brentwood, NH. What fun! 750 people making phone calls while Hillary met people and had her picture taken with them.  Also, if you ever want a really good dinner -- ask Hillary's supporters to cook for you. Great food -- great evening!
